Pearts sells to DCC, says WhichOilSupplier.co.uk

F. Peart & Company Limited - one of the largest independent fuel distributors in North East England has reportedly been acquired by Republic of Ireland based conglomerate, DCC plc according to fuel oil price comparison website, WhichOilSupplier.co.uk

In a telephone conversation with WhichOilSupplier.co.uk, a Peart's spokesperson confirmed DCC's Energy Acquisitions Limited subsidiary had acquired the Hartlepool based company for an undisclosed sum on 30 April 2010.

F. Peart & Co. Ltd, was established in 1923 when coal merchant Fred Peart set up in business. In 1966, the company entered the fuel oil distribution market and over the next four decades was to establish itself as one of the largest fuel distribution businesses in North East England. In 2009, Pearts acquired Rowilco Fuels Limited based in Liverpool.

The acquisition of Pearts is the latest in a string of takeovers by the Republic of Ireland based conglomerate, which is now positioned as the largest heating oil distributor in the United Kingdom - with operations throughout Great Britain and across Northern Ireland.

DCC Energy currently employs over 3,500 people throughout the British Isles, operating from over 250 depots and in 2009 supplied c, 5.3 billion litres of fuel to 600,000 customers in the UK and Eire. Recently the company acquired Shell Direct's operations in Denmark and Austria, together with Brtiish heating oil price comparison website, Boilerjuice.
