Woodpecker Achieves MCS Certification

8th July 2010

Woodpecker Energy UK, a full service biomass heating specialist has achieved Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certification for its 15kW, 25kW and 45kW boilers. This opens the door to government funding under the Renewable Heating Incentive (RHI), which, comes into force in April 2011.

MCS Certification has been awarded for the indoor and outdoor versions of the 15 kW, 25kW and 45 kW self cleaning pellet fired boilers, as well as for the Woodpecker Fillomatic 25kw and 45kW self cleaning and de-ashing boilers with a vacuum feed fuel system.

Tim Rook, Director of Woodpecker Energy UK said, "We're very proud to have achieved MCS Certification on all our boilers which are being recognized by our customers and installers as a no nonsense answer to carbon neutral heating."

While the new coalition government has closed the Low Carbon Building Programme to new applications, the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) continues to have support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). The renewables industry is awaiting final details on the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and the indications are that a very positive scheme will be launched in the coming weeks, to start in April 2011.

Woodpecker claim their biomass boilers are designed to integrate with standard UK heating systems and require minimal loading and maintenance. Woodpecker boilers are suitable for domestic and commercial settings and have also been specified for use in several district heating systems. A 150 kW boiler is currently in development by the company and will be introduced in the Autumn.
