National Energy Action is Certifiably Qualified

16th July 2010

National Energy Action (NEA), the UK's only dedicated fuel poverty charity, has received the internationally recognised standard for quality management.

The ISO 9001:2008 standard, awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI), focuses on an organisation's ability to meet and improve upon customer satisfaction and business processes.

For NEA, the standard is official acknowledgement of the excellent service provided through the charity's training and examination programmes, ensuring a consistently high service to its customers who go on to provide valuable help and support to people in fuel poverty.

NEA has delivered quality services and training in all aspects of domestic energy efficiency for the last 25 years, recently adding a qualification in renewable technology in the home to its suite of learning provision. Following consistent growth in its customer base, the decision was made to appoint a Quality Manager and seek external accreditation with an objective of achieving the goal of ISO 9001:2008 from the British Standards Institution.

Joanne Carr Director of Business Development at NEA said, "Achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification is a terrific milestone for both NEA and our customers. The certification process required a great deal of dedication and teamwork, strengthening our commitment to excellence in training design, development and delivery and adds to customer satisfaction. It has certainly contributed to our business improvement planning."

At a celebration for the team and stakeholders, David McLean, Team Manager for BSI, congratulated NEA for its achievement of ISO certification commending the charity for demonstrating its ability to consistently provide quality training and education services, recognising the organisation's team-led dedication to the task in hand.

Damian Lee, from green services provider Eaga Plc, which is responsible for the delivery of the Government's Warm Front programme, also attended the event commenting,"Over the years NEA has trained hundreds of our front line staff who have gone on to advise many thousands of vulnerable householders, we wish the training team every success in future developments."
