FPS2004.... a 'resounding success'

15th June 2004

Oil distribution industry conference and exhibition, FPS 2004, which took place at the Harrogate International Conference Centre recently, was a resounding success for visitors and exhibitors alike. This year the show, which was launched at in 1980 attracted 107 exhibitors and enjoyed an increase in visitor numbers by 11%.

The UK"s only comprehensive event for the oil distribution industry, the FPS show is a key event for all industry professionals interested in state-of-the art products and solutions, including storage tank manufacturers and accessories, tanker and commercial vehicle manufacturers, computer technology and support services including The Environment Agency.

Pre-registration figures increased by 34% compared to 2003 and the exhibition itself grew in size with the addition of an extra hall to when previously held at Harrogate back in 2002.  Over 1400 movers and shakers and key decision makers from the oil distribution industry world attended over the two days, including 10% of delegates from European countries and 6% from non European countries as far a field as South Africa. Almost 750 guests also attended the FPS Dinner held on the last evening of the exhibition.

Many exhibitors gave positive feedback. Steve Gibb, Group Public Relations Manager for Balmoral Group Ltd said: "FPS 2004 was an excellent show and we are pleased with the results. Allan Joyce"s conference paper on the future of fuel oil storage and legislation was particularly well received.

On the exhibition stand, we enjoyed good foot traffic and a formidable number of serious enquiries were received. These are now being followed up by our national sales teams."

Mike Taylor, Head of Sales at Artegy, independent providers of contract hire for specialist commercial vehicles, comments: "The response we received at Harrogate was very encouraging and we are delighted with the success we achieved. The quality of people attending the exhibition was exceptional and it provided a great way for us to meet these key people within the industry. The show was organised to a high standard and this is reflected in both our success and the excellent feedback we have received from our customers, suppliers and potential customers".

Vanessa Cook, Marketing & Events Manager for the Federation of Petroleum Suppliers (FPS), and organiser of the FPS 2004 Exhibition and Conference, said: "This year"s event was an even bigger success than last year"s show, with over 5250 sq. metres of stand space sold.  We are looking forward to the 2005 show, which we expect will attract even more visitors. The real measure of the show"s success was the extraordinary high number of exhibitors who re-booked for next year"s event while still at the show! There is already considerable pressure on available space as so many exhibitors want bigger stands and new exhibitors are waiting to come in.”

FPS 2005 will be the 25th exhibition and as such will be a very special event to be held at the Telford International Centre on 20-21 April 2005.
