Automatic CO Protection From Flowtech Controls

9th July 2012

Despite the tireless work of charities and trade associations to warn homeowners and householders of the risks posed by Carbon Monoxide (CO), each and every year families mourn the loss of loved ones as a result of CO poisoning.

Fossil fueled, domestic space and water heating systems are one of the most common sources of CO and can be found in most homes across the United Kingdom.  An odourless, tasteless and colourless gas, many victims of CO poisoning are simply unaware of what is happening until it is too late. CO detectors have been available for some time and activate an alarm in the event that CO is detected.

However, for those seeking even greater reassurance and peace of mind, Flowtech has developed an award winning, wireless CO detection and boiler shut off system - especially for oil-fired appliances. The system has been developed not just to detect harmful levels of Carbon Monoxide in the home, activating both visual and audible alarms, but also incorporates a shut off device, which deactivates an oil supply valve and switches off the boiler.

The device can be fitted to almost any oil heating system and has a wireless range of up to 200 metres. Designed for professional installation, it complies with the requirements of European Standards EN50291:2001 and EN50194 and has already won the IET Innovation Award in 2010. Ideal for installation in almost any property, the system is ideal for those with special needs, as it will automatically switch off the boiler without the requirement for human intervention.
