Otis gets a lift at the Royal Welsh Show

14th August 2004

Shropshire based Otis Limited - one of the UK"s leading installers of oil storage tanks - has recently returned from the Royal Welsh Show, reporting "phenomenal interest" in the company"s range of environmentally preferred oil storage tanks.

Held annually, the Builth Wells event attracts farmers from across Wales and throughout the UK. According to Otis Limited"s Managing Director, Andrew Middleton "The Royal Welsh event is one of the biggest agricultural shows to be held anywhere in the British Isles. As a full line Harlequin reseller, we had on display the full range of Advance Single Skin Storage Tanks, Bunded Tanks, Bunded Fuel Stations and Bunded Oil Recycling Banks. Interest, amongst attendees was quite simply phenomenal and far surpassed even our most optimistic expectations."

As a long time exhibitor at the Royal Welsh Show, Andrew has noticed quite a change in attitudes towards oil storage amongst the farming community and agricultural sector.

"Many years ago, a fuel spillage was often and wrongly regarded as little more than a nuisance. An inconvenience at worst, which did not feature prominently on many agendas. But today, things are very different."

"Due in part to an ever-more demanding regulatory environment as well as increasing levels of environmental awareness within society, the agricultural sector in particular understands the importance of responsible fuel storage. Today, an oil spillage, no matter how small, is much more than an inconvenience. It"s a pollution incident, which can cost many thousands of pounds to clean up, lead to increased insurance premiums, render agricultural land unusable and can be punished with a trip to the local court and the imposition of heavy fines."

As a reseller and an installer, Otis Limited claims to be particularly well placed to assist farmers in achieving compliance with the latest fuel storage standards and regulations.

"At Otis Limited, we"re committed to the very highest standards. Every installer and technician has been trained and independently assessed in accordance with the requirements of The Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) - the training, standards and registration agency for the oil heating industry throughout the British Isles. The business is also registered with the Environment Agency and therefore is licensed to arrange the removal and disposal of existing oil storage tanks. Otis Limited can therefore undertake all aspects of oil storage installations from the installation of a new tank, through to the removal and disposal of an existing tank and of course can supply the complete Harlequin range ex-stock."
