Trade Information Day Success at Wolseley UK, Belfast
2nd December 2004
Over 300 people from across Northern Ireland, attended the latest Northern Ireland Heating & Plumbing Trade Information Day, held at Wolseley UK’s Montgomery Road, Belfast branch on Tuesday.
Architects, specifiers and technicians travelled from as far afield as Londonderry, to see the latest product developments and innovations from some of the biggest names in the UK’s plumbing and heating sector. Participating suppliers included Advance Showers, Ferroli Boilers, Geberit Drainage, Harlequin Oil Tanks, John Guest Speedfit, Myson, Powrmatic, Sentinel and Wilo Pumps.
And for the first time ever, OFTEC – the training, standards and registration agency for the UK’s oil heating industry was in attendance – together with its gas counterpart, CORGI.
All exhibitors reported strong interest from attendees. According to Harlequin Oil Tanks’ Sam McClurken ‘We’re absolutely delighted with the turn out here today. Installers, architects and specifiers have travelled from throughout Northern Ireland to be here.’
Northern Ireland has amongst the highest rates of oil heating of any UK region, with almost 3 out of 4 homes in the province, choosing to heat their home with oil.
According to Sam ‘Amongst oil heating installers, there was considerable interest in the new generation of environmentally preferred bunded tanks. Featuring secondary containment, remote electronic tank measurement and an inbuilt spillage detector, bunded tanks are becoming ever more popular in Northern Ireland.’
‘Installers have been quick to appreciate the benefits bunded tanks offer. Stored responsibly, heating oil is an environmentally sound and inherently safe fuel choice. Indeed, heating oil isn’t even flammable at normal temperatures, unlike for instance LPG, which is explosive at typical room temperatures.’
‘Bunded tanks build upon the inherent safety of oil by minimising the risk of oil pollution and contributing to a safer, healthier and cleaner environment, which is good news for installers, good news for oil distributors and great news for homeowners and householders.’
Northern Ireland Heating & Plumbing Trade Information Days are supported by leading heating and plumbing equipment manufacturers and are held regularly throughout Northern Ireland. The next Trade Information Day is scheduled for March 2005.
