Oil Tank targeted in Ulster Arson Attack
11th December 2004
Police in Northern Ireland are investigating a suspected arson attack upon an oil tank in Dunmurry, Co. Antrim earlier today.
An oil storage tank to the rear of a house was set on fire, causing extensive scorch damage to the premises. According to local residents, the blaze was spotted by a neighbour who alerted the Fire Brigade. The blaze was subsequently contained by the Fire Brigade, who prevented it from spreading to other nearby properties.
The incident is one of a number of similar arson related incidents in Northern Ireland over recent years, which has seen oil storage tanks singled out by arsonists, alongside "natural" gas supply pipes, caravans and cars.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them or to contact Crimestoppers.
