Countdown to FPS2005 begins for Apollo

20th February 2009

Dunraven Systems Limited - manufacturers of the popular and successful Apollo ultrasonic oil tank level gauge have confirmed their attendance at FPS 2005 the only national exhibition for the oil heating industry in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

This will be Dunraven"s second year at the prestigious event and follows the successful launch of the Apollo Ultrasonic Oil Level Monitor at FPS 2004. Dunraven is a privately owned company and is completely independent of any tank manufacturer.

Utilising ultrasonic tank measurement technology, the Apollo system has made something of a splash since its launch last year. Originally designed for retrofit installations, the Apollo is now offered on new oil tanks by the majority of plastic tank manufacturers throughout U.K. and Ireland. Tank suppliers offering the Apollo as standard on new tanks include Armatank, Carbery, Deso, JFC, Midas, Sturdy and Tuffa. Additionally, the Apollo can also be supplied as standard on all new Harlequin tanks supplied in the Republic of Ireland.

The Apollo is manufactured to the highest quality standards to ensure consistently high levels of performance and reliability and is suitable for all tanks (irrespective of manufacturer or material of construction) up to 3 metres in height. The system consists of a transmitter and receiver unit. The transmitter unit can easily be retrofitted to both integrally bunded and single skin tanks, due to its compact design.

The tank mounted transmitter measures the level of fuel inside the tank, periodically relaying this information via an inbuilt FM transmitter to the receiver unit which cleverly and conveniently fits into a standard 13 amp domestic socket. This displays the level of fuel inside the tank, via an easy to read 10 bar LCD display. For flexibility and convenience, the receiver unit can be situated up to 200 metres from the transmitter and usefully incorporates a low level warning light.

The Apollo is powered by a long life lithium type battery, with a service life estimated to be in excess of ten years. Unlike alkaline, lithium batteries are not affected by cold, damp or heat. For complete peace of mind and reassurance, the Apollo is supplied with a 3 year warranty against manufacturing and design defect.

Unlike previous generation electronic gauges, no expensive "powertube" is required and the transmitter"s antennae is fully contained within the transmitter unit. Additionally, there is no probe to calibrate, permitting quicker, faster installation at new and existing tanks.

For retrofit installations, the Apollo is even supplied complete with a handy adaptor unit as standard. The option of retrofitting to tanks with existing 32mm and 38 mm apertures, makes the Apollo ideal for customers who want to upgrade their installations. The unit is fully OFTEC Licensed and meets all applicable British, Irish and European requirements (including EMC Regulations) and is guaranteed suitable for use with diesel, kerosene and gas oil as defined by British Standard BS2869.

Ongoing product development is central to Dunraven"s philosophy, with a number of exciting new products and innovations currently under development. The most recent addition to the Apollo family, is the Apollo Bund Alert which when fitted to a bunded tank allows the user to continuously monitor, both the level of oil in the tank and the condition of the bund. The next product scheduled for launch is the Apollo Max Fill - a failsafe, tank top overfill alarm device ideal for minimising the risk of spillage during fuel deliveries. Further new products are in development and will be launched during 2005.
