OFTEC Freezes Registration Fees

Despite the slow thaw in the economy, OFTEC has frozen the cost of registration for the rest of 2010. This means that individual technician registration fees valid for five years work out at only £144 per year, or £12 per month. In what the Association claims is an attempt to help new applicants spread the cost of training and registration, OFTEC is now offering a one year introductory registration option. Read More
Gas Safety Trust Reaches CO Reporting Agreement

The Gas Safety Trust has reached agreement with OFTEC, the Oil Firing Technical Association, and HETAS, the Solid Fuel Domestic Heating Association, to extend the process used to report domestic Carbon Monoxide (CO) related gas incidents, to cover those resulting from solid fuel and oil installations as well. The agreement, facilitated by the Gas Safety Trust and Downstream Gas, will lay the foundation upon which authoritative statistics can be reported, collated and analysed for all the main carbon-based fuels. Home Destroyed in Co. Down Oil Tank Blaze

A home has been destroyed in Newtownards, Co. Down after a traditional 12th. July bonfire partially ignited early yesterday morning, setting light to a fence, a car and two domestic oil tanks in the East Mount area of the town. Two other homes were damaged in the incident. Read More

Woodpecker Achieves MCS Certification

Woodpecker Energy UK, a full service biomass heating specialist has achieved Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certification for its 15kW, 25kW and 45kW boilers.
